Total Club Membership increased from 61 members (59 Legacy/2 Satellite) to 66 members (62 Legacy/4 Satellite), an increase of 8%.
The Club Held its annual Pancake Jamboree Fundraiser (PanJam ’24) on February 23, 2024 at the MC Convention Center. According to PanJam ’24 Chairman, Ben Wilson, Jr., the event served approximately 2,200 patrons and raised over $43,000 to support various youth organizations in the local community and abroad. It was our most successful Pancake Jamboree ever since holding the first event in 1958.
The Club contributed a total of $57,750 to 21 nonprofit/public organizations, both local and abroad, that serve the “Children of the World.” Seven (7) new organizations received first time funding as part of the donations package developed by Chairman John Wells and the Youth Services Committee.
Participated for the first time in the Winston Salem/Forsyth County School System’s Community/Thanksgiving Resource Kit Project.
Participated in the Annual Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Fund Drive raising approximately $5,000 to help needy individuals and families in the community during the holiday season.
The Club’s Social Committee held two member/guest golf outings and barbeques at Reynolds Park Golf Course.
This past year, Club Members attending the weekly luncheon meetings were again treated to an outstanding array of program speakers arranged for by the Program Committee co-chaired by John Danforth and Gary Hauser.
The Club approved granting $6,500 from the Harold Southern/Twin City Kiwanis Endowment Fund which is administered by the Winston-Salem Foundation to start a multi-year literacy program. The funds were used to implement the Salvation Army’s Boys and Girls Club Summer Mentorship and Youth Literacy Program. The program called “Empowering Youth through Mentorship and Literacy” is a multi-year program (3 years) with the total club funding commitment of $24,000.
The Club met the Kiwanis International award criteria to be recognized as a “Distinguished Club” for the 2023-2024 year.
A select committee reviewed and revised the Club’s By-Laws. The Club Membership approved the revisions as did Kiwanis International.
The Club approved granting $10,000 from the Harold Southern/Twin City Kiwanis Endowment Fund which is administered by the Winston-Salem Foundation to initiate improvements at the Raven Knob Scout Camp. The funds will be proved to Scouting America/Old Hickory Council as initial funding for a multi-lane canopy zipline facility at Raven Knob.
President George Munford named Tom Fredericks the Kiwanian of the Year in recognition for his many years of service and dedication to our Club.
2022 – 2023
Total Club memberships increased from 56 members (53 Legacy/3 Satellite) to 62 members (60 Legacy/2 Satellite) an increase of 11%
After a 3-year hiatus, due to the Covid 19 Pandemic, the Club held its annual Pancake Jamboree fundraiser (PANJAM 23). According to PANJAM 23 Chairman Ben Wilson, Jr. the event served almost 2,400 patrons and raised almost $38,000 to support various youth organizations in the community and abroad.
Contributed a total of $40,900 to 17 non-profit organizations both local and abroad that serve the “Children of the World.”
Spearheaded by Stephen Jumper, the Club launched a re-activation/reorganization of its Satellite Club. It is anticipated that 5 to 7 new satellite members will be added to the Club’s membership rolls in early October.
A multifaceted (print, TV, Radio and Internet) marketing campaign was developed and successfully implemented for the Club’s PANJAM 23 fundraising event by the Club’s Marketing Specialist Tyler Cox. The PANJAM 23 event featured for the first time, a manned booth used to disseminate information about Kiwanis International and to encourage event patrons to consider joining TCK Club.

On January 1st, 2023, TCK assumed sponsorship for the Mt. Airy Aktion Club (Developmentally Challenged Youth/Adults) following the disbanding of the Mt. Airy Kiwanis Club.

Developed and implemented a computerized billing/payment process to handle Club members’ dues through the KI/Portalbuzz system.
A committee chaired by 1st VP George Munford undertook a major update of the Club’s 25-year-old bylaws for submission and approval by Kiwanis International.
Obtained approval for the Club to withdraw $10,550 from the Club’s Endowment Fund administered by the Winston-Salem Foundation. The funds will be used to develop and implement a membership recruitment program and to purchase equipment/materials needed to live stream our weekly Club meeting on the internet.
Met the Criteria to be recognized by Kiwanis International as a “Distinguished Club” for 2022-2023.
The Club launched a new Literacy Project initiative to partner with local non-profit organizations that foster and promote childhood literacy in the socio-economic challenged communities of Winston-Salem and Forsyth County. Funds for the program will be provided from the Club’s Endowment bequest from former Club member, Mr. Harold Southern. Final review and selection of approved projects should be completed in early 2024.
